Day Seventy

In the bowling alley...

There are a lot of things I like doing. I like rock climbing. I like hiking. I like white water rafting. You know what I don't like? Bowling. I am absolutely horrible at it, the ball is too heavy, the shoes are hideous and the music sucks. I've seriously heard all of this stuff on the radio before I left for college. Right now "Without You" by David Guetta (let's be real, it was Usher's song) is playing. I have clear memories of listening this song on the way to a HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL GAME. That means this song is at least a year and a half old. That's old. And it's not even a good old song.

The other "classic date activity" I tried this week was roller skating. Let's just say my six year old cousin (who had never roller skated before either) was better than me by the end of the day. At least it's better than ice skating. Ice skating is cold, it hurts when you fall and I feel like I look like a baby giraffe.

The really cool thing about going to roller rink (that's what they're called, right?) was getting to see where my great grandparents met in the 1940s. That's just so cute and cliche! It's like a scene out of an old movie. I can't picture my grandpa roller skating now, but I could definitely see it when he was younger - I bet he was a huge show off too trying to impress my grandma even though I don't see her as one to fall for a guy's moves so easy.

The only old picture I could find of the place.

I remember my mom telling me they used to roller skate together all the time and while I think that's adorable, that's not something I'll be doing with Sam. Ever. What I really want to do that I think would be a fun as a date is horseback ride.

I don't mean this:

No, this is what I want to do:

Maybe one day.
