Day Twenty Five

Everyone has a girl crush (or if you're a guy, a man crush). As Jenna Marbles put it, "if you're a girl and you don't have any level of girl crushes on a girl you're f*cking lying to yourself." Don't think it has to be someone you know personally - it could be a celebrity, or a historical figure or even someone made up, like a TV show character. For the longest time, I had a girl crush on Elizabeth Swan from Pirates of the Caribbean. Okay, maybe I still kind of do.

A girl crush is beyond a recognition of another girl's beauty. A girl crush is someone you want to be like, or someone you can relate to, or just someone you'd love to be best friends with. There is no one quality that triggers a girl crush. A lot of girls I know have girl crushes on Mila Kunis and Emma Stone because they're quirky and fun. There are girls who love Miley Cyrus for her "I don't care what you think, I'm going to be myself" attitude. My friend Valerie has a crush on Kristen Bell because, "she's hot and hilarious and has a break down over sloths." Another friend of mine, Savannah, likes Taylor Swift, not because she's a talented singer, but because "she's dated just about every hot actor out there."

This is MY girl crush:

Actually, I girl crushed on Katniss Everdeen (if you haven't read The Hunger Games, or at least seen the movie, go do so) before I even knew about Jennifer Lawrence, until she got all tangled up in the love triangle with Peeta and Gale, but that's an issue for another post. On her own though, Katniss is a badass, and she does archery, which is always a plus when I'm picking characters to adore. 

*Ahem* 

Anyways, Jennifer was everywhere after the premier of the Hunger Games, and after reading her interview in Glamour and seeing clips of her, I began to like her more than her character. She's refreshingly honest and real and doesn't give a damn what anyone says about her, especially regarding her weight (which is an absolutely ridiculous thing to criticize her on.) She doesn't try to be grown up or glamourous or classy. 

If that doesn't make you adore someone, I don't know what does. So to Jennifer Lawrence:
