When Sam was in basic training, getting a letter from him was the highlight of my day. I saved every letter I got from him. For me, writing him letters was a way for me to talk to him whenever I wanted to, even if he wouldn't actually read them until a week later. Call me old fashioned, but there's something special about a handwritten letter that someone took the time to write.
Today, I made cards for my grandparent's birthdays (they're within a week from each other) and I'm sending them in the mail tomorrow.
Write a letter to someone and send it, even if it's someone you talk to all the time. It could be a family member, an out-of-state friends or even your roommate. If you can't think of anyone to write to that you know, write to someone you don't know. There are plenty of sites that can connect you to someone from overseas and many colleges have connections with other schools all over the world. There are also websites that can connect you to soldiers serving overseas.
Whomever you decide to write to, skip on the emails and send a letter.
