Day 233

Well yesterday's post did that stupid thing where it didn't publish and didn't tell me. It's a pretty good one I think, it's one I had fun writing, so check it out.

I sent out an email the my FIG students with some reminders and I included a "Need to Pack" list that I want to share because I know some of you are moving in soon, whether it be into the dorms or an apartment.

1. Dishes and silverware. If you're living in the Residence Halls like I did, I'd go disposable.
2. Tissues! The Residence Halls have lots of toilet paper, but no tissues, and trust me, allergy season is brutal in Eugene. If you have allergies, bring Claritin or Zyrtec or whatever works best for you.
3. Tape and/or thumbtacks. Not having either of those made it very hard to decorate my dorm room.
4. Highlighters. College isn't like high school where you have to give the book back at the end of the year. Highlighting text while you read, especially large articles and chapters, is extremely helpful when you're going back to study or write an essay.
5. A rain jacket. If you're an Oregonian, you understand, but if you're from out of state, you need to know that a good rain jacket is a must-have.
6. A deck of cards. Game nights are always fun and they're a great way to bond with your neighbors.
7. A reusable bag for groceries. If you're in the Residence Halls, you have meal points so you can get all of your food for "free" but if you're shopping for food at the Grab and Go (Hamilton's mini grocery store) you're going to need a way to get it back to your room. If you don't already have a favorite bag, you can buy UO grocery bags at the dining halls for a point.
