Day 232

Today was incredibly productive - my favorite kind of day. But that's not what we're gonna talk about today...

Consider this part two of my Miley rant

If you haven't seen her new video for "Wrecking Ball" you can check it out using the link below. Just a warning, it's definitely NOT safe for work or any young, impressionable children.

You done watching it?

Miley, girl, what are you doing? To me, this is even worse than what she did with her "We Can't Stop" video (if you haven't seen it yet, one, where have you been? and two, look it up for some context). At least with "We Can't Stop," she could get away with the ridiculousness and "sexiness" if you can even call it that because the song is about getting crazy and partying. Ridiculousness and people who think they're sexier than they are is what parties are all about. But whoever wrote "Wrecking Ball" gave Miley a chance to redeem herself with an emotional, meaningful, powerful song... And she pretty much just shit on it.

A lot of people commented that her nudity was to symbolize her vulnerability. Oh yeah? Then what's this symbolize?

Let's be serious y'all, she was naked because she wanted to be naked. Any deep meaning in the song's message was completely ruined by the video. People think her nudity was an artistic choice to visually represent how vulnerable she feels yet they used a LITERAL GOD DAMN WRECKING BALL. THE WHOLE TIME. It's not like it was a montage of torn, angry, confused, naked Miley with one shot of a wrecking ball smashing through a wall at the impact of the song.

She's riding it.

There was nothing artistic about that video. This was her chance to show fans and haters alike that she could be mature and isn't completely gone beyond saving. She was given the perfect song. Nooooope. Couldn't do it.

The only thing that really wrecked the lyrics for me (hah, play on words!) is when she sings "you wrecked me." Bitch, you wrecked you. It's not like the song is about a woman who got into a relationship and fell in love with a man who neglected her and abused her and she's finally not putting the blame on herself. That would make for such a powerful song but it's obviously meant to be put in the context of Miley's life.

Like I stressed last time, you are the one of you're own destiny. Yeah, there are producers and managers that have pushed Miley towards this image and character. But she could say no. Let's be real, she's not famous, she's infamous. She's going out soon anyways. It's Brittany Spears all over again. Maybe standing up for herself and the image she wanted of herself would have made her fade out of stardom, but isn't it better to go out on your own terms with your dignity still intact?  Stars come and go, but her legacy could have been Miss Party in the USA who grew up and went on to live a great life instead of the girl who twerked half naked at the VMAs.

"Seven Things" came on shuffle when my sister and I were listening to music. We are 19 and 15 and we totally jammed out and sang along to that song. As much as I hate to admit it, Miley's upbeat songs  have always been a guilty pleasure of mine. And I miss Old Miley.
