I also have big plans with One Fair World. My manager seemed totally on board with it; now I just have to wait for the Board's approval. What I'm hoping to do is set up a website and bring some of One Fair World's inventory to Eugene. There isn't a fair trade store like OFW down there, which is odd because it seems like the perfect place for one considering it's a liberal college town. I think it'll not only help the store, but help spread the word about fair trade.
My manager also told me that universities can become fair trade certified, and I think it'd be great if UO could get on the list. I'm hoping *fingers crossed* that I can use fair trade as the topic for my Gateway Series courses (12 credit course for journalism majors) so I can do a little research, networking and all that kind of stuff without taking time away from course work. It'll be a nice head start on getting an actual campaign going.
God damn, I'm gonna be busy...
Just throwing it out there, if you're a UO student reading this (or even if you're not) and you're interested in the whole fair trade thing, Facebook message or email me :)
